What is the PLF for Italy? The Passenger Locator Form is a travel health certificate introduced during the COVID-19 pandemic. It is now an entry requirement for passengers traveling to Italy.
One of the main requirements for US citizens traveling to Italy is a valid passport. Your passport must be valid for at least 3 months beyond your intended departure date back to the US and it must not be older than 10 years.
Most countries require you to complete the form at least 48 hours in advance.
The official portal for passengers travelling to France, Malta, and Slovenia to complete the simplified PLF is app.euplf.eu. Any other websites that act as intermediaries, are not approved, and are considered to be fraudulent. We therefore advise travellers to complete their PLFs directly on app.euplf.eu.
Resist the urge to buy foreign currency before your trip.

Requirements to enter Italy

The cost of a trip to Italy for a week will vary depending on your travel style and preferences. A budget traveler can expect to spend around 800-1000 euros, while a mid-range traveler can expect to spend around 1500-2000 euros. Luxury travelers can expect to spend upwards of 3000 euros.

Italians rarely, if ever, leave money on the table in Italy. Since waiters are not always tipped in Italy, checking the table after customers leave is not automatic. Italians who tip are going out of their way to say thanks for the excellent service.

You can exchange cash at any official currency exchange office or at a local bank. Alternatively, taking cash out of an ATM is a quick and easy way to get euros. There are many official exchange offices in any major city in Italy.
How to change money in Italy. Always exchange money at a bank (or, if you're a cardholder, an American Express office), and always use your ATM card to withdrawal euros from your home bank account. This is how you will get the best rates and pay the lowest fees or commissions.
If you are comfortable carrying cash, exchanging money before your trip might be a good option for you. On the other hand, if you prefer to use credit or debit cards, it might be better to wait until you arrive in Europe and withdraw money from ATMs or use your card for purchases.
Buy before you fly
It's worth remembering that foreign exchange rates can go up and down. When you buy your Euros in advance, you can be sure of the rate you are going to get. Withdrawing cash abroad may not give you the same exchange rate.
